We went for a little local drive today. We found a completely mad place which is just outside Kalives and has the most bizarre buildings in it. Pictures coming up later!

We went on to Vrisses and sat by the weirs on the river for coffee and sfakian pies with honey. The cofee place was called Capri and is welll worth a visit. T-shirt weather and a lovely afternoon out.

EasyJet have finally announced their flights to Chania from Gatwick and you can book them from today via their website www.easyjet.com

 They are flying 3 times a week on Tuesday, Wednesday and Sunday, starting on the 23rd of May and ending on the 29th of September.

The hotel owners association in Chania have been working on getting this route for ages. Well done to them for pulling it off. It is going to make access to the west of the island much easier from the U.K.

A man boarded an aircraft at London 's Heathrow Airport for New York , and
taking his seat as he settled in, he noticed a very beautiful woman
boarding the plane. He realised she was heading straight toward his seat and
bingo - she took the seat right beside him.

"Hello", he blurted out, "Business trip or vacation?"
She turned, smiled enchantingly and said, "Business. I'm going to the
annual nymphomaniac convention in the United States ."

He swallowed hard. Here was the most gorgeous woman he had ever Seen
sitting next to him, and she was going to a meeting for Nymphomaniacs!

Struggling to maintain his composure, he calmly asked, "What's your
business role at this convention?"

"Lecturer," she responded. "I use my experience to debunk some of the
popular myths about sexuality."

"Really", he smiled, "what myths are those?"

"Well," she explained, "one popular myth is that African-American Men are
the most well endowed when, in fact, it's the Native American Indian who is
most likely to possess that trait. Another popular myth is That French men
are the best lovers, when actually it is the men of Greek descent. We have
also found that the best potential lovers in all categories are the Irish."

Suddenly the woman became uncomfortable and blushed. "I'm sorry," She
said. "I really shouldn't be discussing this with you; I don't even know your
name!"

"Tonto," the man said. "Tonto Papadopoulos, but my friends call me Paddy."

We were in Georgioupolis yesterday to check out a couple of properties. The town is very popular with Europeans and there are a limited number of British guests from the major tour companies.

The first two weeks of January 2010 have been the busiest ever for www.simplycreteholidays.co.uk

With new properties being added in the west of the island, demand for early bookings has really taken off. We are still waiting for news of the new EasyJet flights into Chania, which would make access to this area so much easier.

Some of our family properties in Agios Nikolaos are already fully booked so book now if you want to make sure that you get the property you want.

In Crete, the temperatures are running at around 22 Celsius and we have had constant sunshine right through from Christmas until now. With another week predicted, it is such a shame that I am spending so much time doing my annual chore of the company accounts.

We were discussing yesterday why so few people come here in the winter. The weather is mainly mild and we have lovely properties which are available throughout the year. It is a chance to experience the real hospitality of the local people and traditional food which you would never find in the summer months.

Flights are available from Aegean and Olympic, via Athens, and are the same price, or sometimes less,  than the charters in the summer. You get a good meal and your luggage is transferred to the shuttle flight to Chania or Heraklion so there is no second check-in for your baggage.

Its a new year and we are already experiencing very high demand for summer 2010 hoidays with family villas and apartments being the main source of enquiries, along with spring breaks for couples in April and May.

We have many new properties, particularly in Western Crete, and we are looking forward to developing our relationships with our new partners in this area. The west of the island is very different to the east and is a fantastic place to explore in the spring.

We have now introduced the start of our program to offer selected properties at the same price throughout the year. We are hoping to develop this and expand this concept in the years to come.
